the resolution i need should be enough to recreate the image with
mathplotlib and have it look almost identical...for the human eye.

The brush size is set to 1 pixel. Rather than erase, the eraser greys
a pixel. Layers and channels panels are visible here.

Login and logout are inverses. Therefore, finding them at the same
level is rational.

that your image is in Grayscale mode? The filter will
still work, but the effect will be not as if the image is RGB.

I'm running on Linux Mint 19.0. This included GIMP 2.8.22.
I found that using the File -> Open menu option in GIMP results in hang
after selecting the file to open in the 'Open Image' window and clicking
the 'Open' button.

Can Gimp handle RAW files, particularly Canon CR3, but also older
