if you would like to go low and test at the packet level, use: hping2 as you can generate packets with different flags set to test the actual integrity of the firewall ruleset. goto: http://packetstoem.securify.com and search for hping2 as i dont have the official site on hand. -D Benjamin Scott

Hello, A friend and I were discussing possible ways to secure a linux system from getting hacked. We came up with a couple of methods that might stop most script kiddies, but an experienced hacker would still be able to work around. I was wondering what others thought of them.

Hi all, How do I set my default terminal type for when I telnet to other machines? If I telnet from my Redhat machine, it sends linux as the terminal type from X or from a console. If I telnet from my Debian machine in X, it sends Xterm-debian as my terminal type, and linux otherwise. I
