There were 3 models, A, B, and C.  I don't think many As got out. 386BSD
was based on the 1542B (and there was a Minix patch for it and it worked
well for me).  I have a few of these, including the 1540B which doesn't
have floppy support on it.  These had all sorts of jumpers for setting
IRQ, DMA, etc.  I think the 154xB was the most widely supported SCSI 
adapter out there and several competitors emulated it (DPT).  That's 
why I bought mine & put it in the '286 I had at the time for Minix.

I think the 154xC was PnP.  When it came out, lots of people had 
problems with them.  This was surprising as the 154xB was so rock solid.
