About two years ago I had an equally frustrating hardware problem that
seemed to come out of nowhere that finally resolved after about the 10th
reinstall of both XP and FC6. About 6 mo later I had a recurrence and
was able to figure out that the device names of my two sata hard drives

When I was setting up this computer to dual boot Win XP and FC8 I
initially thought that I would have to convert the hard drive with my
win xp files from ntfs to fat32 in order to have them accessible both to
linux and win xp. I quickly found out that fc8 has no trouble reading
and writing ntfs
With no changes in hardware or software other than a string of updates
to FC8 I started getting some boot messages that make no sense to me and
don't seem to affect operation. The first was: pnpacpi: exceeded max
number of memory resources: 12.
