I'm trying to use gnome-shell without docky/taskbar, just with the
exposé and the alt-tab. I must admit that I'm beginnig to feel more and
more comfortable without dock, the screen is less cluttered and visually
simple. But still I think that there should be a quick way to switch
applications

Was gonna be of the gnome applets in Gnome 3 (aka gnome-shell new based new
desktop) ? or how can I mimic the functionality ? you know little programs
staying there visible for the user and easy to access.

One of the ones I really miss is weather, which was part of the clock in
GNOME 2. The clock's part of the shell in GNOME 3. I think you can see
where I'm going with this ;)

Weather updates must be visible all the time in the desktop, it is up to the
designers of where to put the thing.
Because for some users, it is _critically_ important to be updated of the
weather condition in their respective areas.

Ok, I know applets as they are won’t exist but I mean a way of give the
user/developer the chance of present some info or capabilities with most of
all ease of access. I mean something like gnome-shell extensions, but so far
I read nothing about it, not a smaple, not nothing, so could that be
