winx/stdlibx.h inlcudes a file gw32.h
there does not seem to be a gw32.h in either the libgw32c includes or the the
MinGw includes. What do I need to doo here ?

I want to insert a \n after those apostrophes that are *not* preceded by a ?.

On my GNU/Linux box, this...
echo '222?'22'33?'333'4'555 | sed s/\([^?]\)'/\1'\n/g
produces the effect you are seeking, except that I simply get a literal letter
n instead

Try Bsdtar (command-line utility with port at Gnuwin32), or WinZip or IzArc
(free), both with GUI.

all is ok.. but,
find c:\docs | cpio -oc | bzip2 test.cpio.bz2
Fails with:
Sdout is closed

I was surprised that on a WinXP box installation of GnuWin32 did not
