It has been reported that the Goa govt has just spent around 4 crores of rupees on an advertising blitz in European media markets to prop up the tourism industry for the rest of the season. Goans abroad should consider mounting a counter campaign against the Goa govt. This could take the shape of email and web campaigns, in groups and forums. These tactics can be very effective if implemented intelligently. The gist of our message should be that Goa has been taken over by a criminal enterprise of pols, miners and builders, and that the tourism industry is complicit in this swamp. That the tourism industry is contributing to Goa's rapid environmental decline and exploitation of scarce land resources. That regard for law and order is non-existent (throw in the example of Scarlett Keeling etc). Foreign tourists must be requested to stay away until a through clean-up is undertaken. These criminals must be hit where it hurts most - their cash supply. Regards, r ps: Please don't come back with your cant about how common people associated with the tourism industry will also be hurt. First of all, Goa will not be set right unless we ALL bear some pain. Second, what about the rest of us, an overwhelming majority, who have to now and will for the rest of our lives, suffer the consequences of the misdeeds of these scum?
