The radiation suffered by 45 staff of Kaiga nuclear plant is just the
beginning. If people have not learnt from the hide and seek played by the
corporates and the government with the Bhopal gas tragedy victims then the
truth has to be learnt the hard way. We are dealing with a bunch of liars in
government who are nothing but frontmen for the corporate lobby and the
contractors. They market such risky projects and just disappear when disaster
strikes. The people of Corlim where the syngenta factory operates are just
bidding their time as to when a major disaster will strike. The oil tanks at
Vasco also pose a big risk to the people around. The dead will be settled off
for a few lakh rupees to the next of kin and everything will be back to normal.
Hazardous waste from industrial estates is just dumped in abondoned wells and
rivers. The drug of economic prosperity is deadly and can disable all reasoning
abilities of the people it possesses. The politicians are systematically
intoxicating the goan society with 'economic mushrooms'. This is the reason for
Goa's gradual mental and spiritual decay.
