Dear Sir,

Sub: Great Indian-American doctors

We are happy to learn from today’s papers that an Indian-American cardiologist
has won an American College of Cardiology's prestigious award in recognition of
his contributions.
Sumeet Chugh, associate director of the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute and a
leading expert on heart rhythm disorders such as sudden cardiac arrest and
atrial fibrillation, will receive the award at the 63rd Annual Scientific
Session in Washington.

Dr. Chugh is leading the quest to unlock the mysteries of how to prevent sudden
cardiac arrest, which is 99 percent fatal. Chug, is an expert in the
performance of radio frequency ablation procedures as well as the use of
pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular devices to correct heart rhythm
problems.

We are also proud to note that a Goan, hailing from Loutulim, Salsete has
earned kudos in the above field of Electrophysiology. His name is Joseph
Anthony (Tony) Gomes. He is currently the Director of the Electrophysiology at
The Mount Sinai Medical Center. A pioneer in the field of Cardiac
Electrophysiology, he is credited for establishing the first modern Cardiac
Electrophysiology section and Laboratory in New York City.
He has been consistently listed for the last 10 years in the Best Doctors in
New York. He has authored many original scientific publications and textbooks.

What is more remarkable is that Tony Gomes is also a published poet and a
novelist. He has written a collection of poems entitled "The Twilight
Landscape" and an Epic poem - "The Poets Den" in a book entitled "Visions from
Grymes Hill”. His first novel entitled: "The Sting of Peppercorns", was
published in India, by GOA 1556 and Broadway Book Center. His most recent book
Mirrored Reflections - a collection of nostalgic, beautiful poems is published
by Goa, 1556 and is a must read.

Thanking you,
