QUOTES OF THE DAY: There are things that have happened 400-500 years ago, and today we should not use it to give a wrong impression on younger minds. -- Chief minister Pratapsing Rane, on the controversial VCD promoted by the earlier BJP government, which now stands withdrawn.
Yes, we certainly collaborated with the Congress to bring down the Parrikar government. But, our future relations with the Congress depends on many factors. -- Maverick politician and UGDP leader Radharao Gracias, in Herald.

Herald's photos by Rosario Estibeiro say it all. On Feb 1, it was a full-house protesting the dismissal of the Parrikar government. One week later, and out of power, there were "few takers to the BJP charna (protest) at Panjim's Azad Maidan", as the paper put it. Page 1, Herald.

BRIAN D'SOUZA PAYS TRIBUTE to a schoolmate who died young in Goa, Walter Fernandes Class of '87, at the St Britto's Alumni network of Mapusa (to join, send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] )
What I remember most about Walter was his energy and enthusiasm. I bumped into him about 8-10 years ago when I saw him performing in a band he had formed and we talked a little after his performance. He was a very active scout and a great team member to have on your patrol. He had an unusual talent for cooking too. May his soul rest in peace.
Walter Victor Fernandes, b 1971 was the son of ex-police officer of Goa Mariano J Fernandes, husband of Antonette and father of Winnie. His funeral took place on Feb 8 for St Jerome's Church, announced yesterday on Goanet News Bytes.

Goanet ( http://www.goanet.org ) was founded by Herman Carneiro in 1994 and has been build by teams of volunteers and participants sence. It has two lists -- GoanetNews (news summaries only, and occasional features) and Goanet. The parent list is Goanet, set up in 1994, which allows for both discussion and news postings. Volume of postings is higher on this list (30+ messages each day), so if you're keen to check it out write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and request to be placed on the GOANET DIGEST version.
Goanet allows YOU to discuss the news, post your comments, feedback and suggests. It helps Goans the world over to keep in touch with each other, talk, discuss... even fight. In a rare case, two Goanetters actually got married! Don't ask who they are, but the old-timers know them...
We can only grow with your support and recommendations! ----------------------------------------------------------------------
