Thanks Neil. I tried exporting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable but it did not help. I do not have ldconfig on this system but I'll look into getting it.

On Linux I think you'd need either "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib", or to run "sudo ldconfig" after installing Guile. I'm afraid I don't know what that equates to on MinGW. Neil
