The skirt is awesome, but I really hate the print bodice. They couldn't find
something that actually matched the feathers?

I agree. Of course a dumpster covered in 2000 peacock feathers would be
awesome too. Or a Mac truck. Or anything! I'm impressed by
The bodice looks like several of my bridesmaid dresses.
I somehow did and do Not believe that bridesmaids are dressed as the best ever.

Oh, Albert, I love you! You always sum things up so perfectly.

Until recently I had thought that the figure-of-eight ruffs were never
stitched to hold the shape, but last week I found a portrait in a
current Sotherby's catalogue for a sale of Old Master and early British
paintings.
This is the link to the catalogue:

Well, I'm kind of lukewarm about it, too. But as someone who has worked
with peacock feathers on a MUCH smaller scale, I must say, they
Is the stronger white line at the base some kind of support? I wonder how much
this one weighs!! Beautiful in it's curved shapes but way more than I'd want to
wear.

If you zoom in on it, you can see that there is clearly a separate supporter
below the ruff itself. The supporter has the lower row of pearl clusters
attached to it, not to the ruff. The lower pearl clusters do not match up with
the loops of the ruff, whereas the clusters on top do. While
It's not a print, just had to clarify that- at the bottom of the
article ;) Brocade and embroidery involved in it. I suspect the choice
of design has to to with the symbolism of the flowers used.
I have though seen a gorgeous fabric made to look like it had peacock
feathers sewn to it. Was a
Definitely better than a dumpster ;)
I like the bodice... I had a friend who had knee length bridesmaids dresses
in a similar style and they were gorgeous.

Was about to say the same thing...
It's Suzhou embroidery, though, an ancient Chinese technique which gives
photographic like images, so I can see how you could make the mistake if
you're not aware of it.

I had some white peacock feathers at one time. I suspect they
were bleached. The gold section was still metallic looking and
another part was pinkish, with the rest being a cream color. They
would have made quite an impressive dress, too.
Probably hard to match because the colors aren't really pigments for the most
part, but some very fancy light interference patterns. See:

That said, I hate the bodice, too.

Yes there are. I also have some white peacock feathers, pretty much the
same colors as the ones of yours. Google on albino peacock.

Now that I've looked at the albino peacocks, I definitely think
my feathers were bleached. The albinos are pure white and the
bleached feathers had a bit of color still on them.
Also I saw a web page where they sold bleached peacock, as well
as overdyed. The dyed are not
