I have some birthday money and I'm debating between buying Tak V Bowes Departed
(fingerloop braiding) and Jaqui Carey's book on Sweet Bags. What do you think?
I think both are under my $100 limit, even with the pound to dollar conversion
rate plus shipping.

You might be able to get both if you click on the extra links in your
searches for the books on Amazon. Sometimes someone is selling one out of
their shop linked on Amazon for half the price or less.
But if you must choose, go for the one that has been out of print the
longest cause you may never
And don't forget abebooks.com for used books. They have dealers all over,
including the UK, and you can have the book search sort by price.

My vote is for Tak V Bowes. These are the clearest, easiest to learn from
instructions for fingerloop braiding that I've come across so far. This is one
book where I think you should have a new/good copy in your library and a second
copy in your workroom. I bought the book as soon as
M... the putty pink silk broadcloth looks nice.
And there's a cream linen with a little self colored embroidered flower widely
scattered all over it that is nice too (wish it was a lighter weight though.)
I also wondered exactly what the metallic and silk crinkle looks like in
person. I
