------------------------------------------------------
The 2008 Democratic contenders are lacing up the gloves for the first debate in
the race for the White House and Hardball's got your ringside seats! Join us
tonight as we gear up for the Democratic Candidates Presidential Debate,
moderated by NBC's Brian Williams, live from Orangeburg, South Carolina this
Thursday.

Today in Washington, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced that
President Bush will have an Iraq bill calling for an exit date to bring home
the troops on his desk within days. The president's response: "I will strongly
reject an artificial timetable (for) withdrawal and/or Washington politicians
trying to tell those who wear the uniform how to do their job." We'll talk to
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) about battle between the
White House and Congress.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will officially announce his candidacy this week.
We'll talk about McCain and all the '08 news with tonight's Hardballers: MSNBC
Political Analyst Howard Fineman and Anne Kornblut from the Washington Post.
And later in the show, Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM) will join Chris to talk
about gun control in the '08 race.

This past weekend, Washingtonians celebrated our very own "prom," the annual
White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, complete with a hot exchange
between Sheryl Crow, Laurie David and Karl Rove. Why the red carpet rumble?
Find out tonight.
