            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
It's been a hot week for politics and today was no exception. Tune in to
Hardball tonight for the last word on all the big stories.

First, breaking news from Capitol Hill. Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) resigned this
afternoon after questions over emails he wrote to a former Congressional page.
Chris Cillizza from Washingtonpost.com and NBC's Mike Viqueira will be here
with the story. For the latest, stay tuned to politics.msnbc.com.

Then, fighting words from the president. In a campaign speech Thursday,
President Bush called Democrats the party of "cut and run." Today, more tough
talk from the President in another speech on terrorism. Rep. John Murtha
(D-PA) will join Chris to talk about the Democratic position on the War on
Terror. And from the opposite side of the aisle, we'll hear from Rep. Marsha
Blackburn (R-TN).

Has the Bush Administration been hiding the truth about violence in Iraq?
That's what Bob Woodward of the Washington Post is saying in a new book, "State
of Denial." Chris will get the latest from Andrea Mitchell, NBC News Chief
Foreign Affairs Correspondent.

Yesterday, Hardball brought you David Shuster's exclusive interview with a
woman who claims she witnessed Sen. George Allen (R-VA) repeatedly using racial
slurs in the late 1970's, the latest in a series of people accusing the senator
of racism. Allen's opponent in the Virginia Senate race, Democrat Jim Webb,
also has been accused of using racial slurs. Webb responded, "There isn't
anyone who grew up around the South that hasn't had the word pass through their
lips." We'll hear from Webb campaign strategist Steve Jarding.

CNBC Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood will also shed light on the
Virginia race.

And we're ending the week the Hardball way. Former DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe
and Ron Christie, former assistant to President Bush, will be here to talk
everything politics: President Bush talking tough on terrorism, the Clintons
and the Dems, updates on the hot 2006 races in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania and
Tennessee. Chris and the Hardballers will hash it all out.

And, if it's Sunday, it's Meet the Press! Don't miss the show this weekend
when Tim Russert will moderate an exclusive in-studio debate between Ohio
incumbent Sen. Mike DeWine(R) and his challenger Rep. Sherrod Brown(D).
