I have one that, as I recall, works with a driver but doesn't work with the
live CD - Zonet - ZFM5600 I have tried online help to no avail. I have read
that XIRCOM RBM56G may have support in the standard Linux kernel. Does
anyone have experience with that?

Modems are pretty generic - just check that it is a hardware modem
rather than a software modem and you should be OK. Also, increasingly,
hardware these days says that it is Linux compatible.
http://tuxmobil.org/pcmcia_linux.html may help.

I need to find one that works without installing anything - just uses
a live
CD. The live CD can be Knoppix, DSL, Kubuntu - you name it. Anyone know of
one?
