Dear Yossie
I know this isn't your normal type of posting for hasafran, but see
in this newsletter my article about the baboon. I bet it hasn't
happened to any other Judaica Librarian in the association! I thought
other members might be interested. Otherwise just delete!
Best Regards
Veronica

Hi,
I know that there are a few librarians in the Baltimore area on this list.
If anyone has any colleague/friend/connection at the Baltimore County
Public Library that they could put me in touch with, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks so much!

Dear Haim--
You are just where I was about twenty years ago! I had completed a Ph.D.
in Rabbinical literature and enrolled in an M.S. in Information Studies
program focussing on cataloging and rare books.
So far as I know there are no active programs in Judaica Librarianship
in existence. There
I have a patron who is looking for the sheet music for the zemirah,

anthology in my library and a Hebrew version at Brigham

This book has received favorable reviews in both the NYTimes Book

faithfully. There was some criticism of his caricaturation being a

Hi Rachel:
I'd say so. Crumb consulted Alter's translation of the Pentateuch and
apparently uses it in part as a source for his text.

Below is a link to a recent review that should help in deciding
whether or not to order this version of Bereshit.
Also, if you google Crumb Book of Genesis under the images tab you
will find several illustrations from the book.
For those curious about Genesis by R. Crumb, he was interviewed
yesterday on All Things Considered on NPR. The interview can be
heard by going to the NPR website. After listening to it, I decided
it is probably not appropriate for a Jewish library.

Dear Friends,
A recurring theme in our newsletters over the years has been the
importance of books which overlap different categories of books and
fields of Jewish Studies.

Excellent input, Sara, on the subject of Holocaust books for
children. You listed one of my absolute favorites in this category,
THE DEVIL'S ARITHMETIC. It meets all the criteria you suggested, and
the reason I've recommended this book for years and years is the
remove/safety aspect. Since
Today's New York Times print edition includes a brief paid necrology

Greetings safranim,
This topic has come up before (I've been looking through the
archives), but there are some of us fairly new to the organization
and list serve. SO - if you could help us out, that would be much appreciated.
First are you aware of any classes in librarianship for Jewish

Is anyone familiar with the film Drancy Avenir, which uses actors to
recite published Holocaust testimonies and text juxtaposed against
