The Bibliographical Society of America invites applications for its annual
short-term fellowship program, which supports bibliographical enquiry as
well as research in the history of the book trades and in publishing
history. Eligible topics may concentrate on books and documents in any
field, but should focus on the book or manuscript (the physical object) as
historical evidence. Such topics may include establishing a text or studying
the history of book production, publication, distribution, collecting, or
reading. Enumerative listings do not fall within the scope of this program.

In 2004 the BSA awarded fellowships to ten scholars.

Fellowships offer a stipend of up to $2,000 for a month's support of travel,
living, and research expenses. The program is open to applicants of any
nationality.

Applications, including three letters of reference, are due by December 1,
2004. Download application forms at www.bibsocamer.org or request them from
the BSA Executive Secretary, P.O. Box 1537, Lenox Hill Station, New York, NY
