The New England Chapter of AJL (NEAJL), will hold our annual Spring meeting on Friday, May 20, at Gann Academy, Waltham, MA http://www.gannacademy.org/home/, hosted by librarian, Julie Koven Levine.
Our guest speaker will be Dr. Jonathan Krasner, Assistant Professor of Jewish History at the Hebrew Union College, Cincinnati, (and former history department chair of Gann Academy) who will speak about: The Adventures of K'tonton and Hillel's Happy Holidays: Children's Books and the Making of American Jewish Identity Dr. Krasner also has a new book out, that will be available for perusal and purchase: The Benderly Boys and American Jewish Education, by Brandeis University Press. The book tells the story of how Samson Benderly and his protégés revolutionized Jewish education in the United States between 1910 and 1970.
