From the Out of Print Books Task Force Committee
End-of-year report:

As the chair of the Out of Print Books Task Force Committee, I
contacted authors and publishers of the out-of-print children's books
AJL members submitted through 2005, and have two pieces of good news to report:

1. Alyssa Eisner, an editor at Simon and Schuster Children's Books
and a presenter on the Out-of-Print panel at the 2004 convention in
Brooklyn, sends word that Simon and Schuster plans to reprint a 25th
anniversary edition of A CASTLE ON HESTER STREET in Fall 2007. The
illustrator will be Borris Kulikov.

2. Dorrith Sim, author of the out-of-print picture book IN MY POCKET,
has reprinted a paper edition of her book. Dorrith reprinted the book
as soon as she heard of the interest of AJL members. I would like to
urge members to consider purchasing this lovely and moving book for
their children's book collections. IN MY POCKET is available through
East Renfrewshire Cultural Services for $18 dollars plus postage and
packing. The website is:

Librarians can contact Dorrith for more information:

Thank you to everyone for your participation in 2005.
