  Painted Memories of a Jewish Childhood in Poland
  Before the Holocaust

  Self-taught artist Mayer Kirshenblatt and his
  daughter, noted NYU Professor
  and scholar of Jewish culture Barbara
  Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, celebrate the
  publication of this remarkable record of Jewish life
  in a Polish town before
  World War II. They Called Me Mayer July: Painted
  Memories of
  a Jewish Childhood in Poland Before the Holocaust,
  presents Kirshenblatt's
  childhood impressions, his lively paintings, and a
  marvelous narrative
  created from nearly 40 years of father-daughter
  interviews.
