Smadar,Would Sefer Ha-Aggadah  edited by Bialik and Ravnitsky and translated into The Book of Legends work?  All original sources appear in footnotes, in English, so everything can traced back to sources which can often also be found in translation.  There are 3 -4 pages on Kamtza and Bar
