I am the librarian of a K-8 school, and we have many Judaic books, both Hebrew and English, that do not get used in our school, or that are duplicates. After offering the volumes in good condition to my colleagues, community members via a Facebook group, and select volumes through the Buy, Sell, or Swap Sefarim- in memory of Rav Reuven Margolies ztl Facebook group, I am at a dead end. I hate throwing books out / sending them for burial, but I am going to have to do it. Any suggestions? I also have been the unwilling recipient of many bags of mostly old Hebrew books that were literally left in front of our school building when we were closed. After sorting out the books in poor condition, that belonged to another library, etc., I am still left with books that it kills me to throw out. There is a limit on how much time I can spend trying to find new homes for the books. For instance, a ten volume set of כתבי הרצל was left here. A quick check of Worldcat shows that it is owned by four libraries in the U.S. If anyone wants it for the price of postage, it's yours. Otherwise, I have no choice but to throw it out.
