During this workshop, AJL’s Michelle Margolis Chesner will discuss the project “Footprints: Jewish Books Through Time and Place,” a database to track the circulation of printed “Jewish books.” Footprints connect pieces of information about the movement of early printed books to each other in order to build up a composite view of the movement of Jewish texts and ideas from place to place and across time. Workshop participants will have the chance to learn about the conceptual and methodological development of the project, and discuss with the presenter.
