Quinn’s Auction Galleries is seeking an organized, motivated, and energetic team member to assist with a sale of Judaica and associated items, including a significant library. The auction will take place in November and Quinn's has an immediate vacancy; the successful candidate will work circa 30 hours per week on sale cataloging; Quinn's will pay $15 per hour. The primary focus of this position is cataloging, creating groups of books and other items (lots) for sale, and pricing these lots for auction. Candidates must possess demonstrably strong research skills, knowledge of Hebrew and books in Hebrew as well as associated material. Introductory training will be provided but candidates should be able to work independently and be flexible in the tasks associated with the role. The ability to work well in a team is also important. Employer Description The successful candidate will join the largest auction company in the state of Virginia and the Washington DC region, and be a part of a young, energetic, goal-oriented team holding more than 100 auctions annually, including 3-5 rare book, maps, photographs and ephemera auctions and more than 10 collector’s series auctions of books and prints and more. Main Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to the following o Researching sale items and creating lots. o Cataloging and pricing lots for auction utilizing industry standards with regards to terminology and proper catalog format. o Identification of salient points for catalog photography. Essential Skills and Qualifications: o Fluency in Hebrew is essential; Yiddish and German are desirable. o Proficiency in Word, Excel and Google documents o Ability to work independently within a team environment o Excellent research skills, including reference and bibliographical sources o Excellent time management, the ability to work quickly and efficiently, and deliver according to the catalog deadline o Ability to contribute to the work of a close-knit team. o Ability to lift book boxes.
