A large portion of feminists are especially concerned with what they perceive to be the social, political and economic inequality between the sexes which favors the male gender. In the Muslim world, feminist movements have flourished and made their presence felt. They claim that theyre neither anti-Shariah nor anti-Islam, but they depend on the Quran, Sunnah and Ijtihad to challenge the ways in which Islam has been distorted by Shariah rulings issued mostly by ultraconservative men! The speaker will explore this claim and give a brief account of feminist movements in the Muslim world and identify the fundamentals of their thoughts and ideas...
