Has anyone undertaken an effort to provide a site with all the HLTV FAQ's, a forum for HLTV discussion, and a repository for utilities and custom map overview files? I proclaim myself as HLTV's biggest fan here and now! If nothing else, an FTP site for the overview files would be a great asset

They do that because Quake III is a good all-around benchmark for video cards. It can really tax a card with some of those levels. HL is just the Quake 1 engine on speed, so it can run on just about anything these days. Even my old Riva TNT could run it great!

That's not really the case. The card/driver combination makes or breaks a 3D solution. For instance, under w9x, using dual voodoo2's, HL/CS would probably run great. Since I threw 9x out the window a couple of years back, I've run NT/2000 on my workstations exclusively. Now, with HL/CS 1.0

And one other thing. The system setup button is grayed out in the Voice Setup app. Also, when I have the Windows Volume Control, or Mixer, open, and launch the Voice Setup app, the Microphone Balance mute check box suddenly gets checked by a ghost (or should I say by the Voice Setup app?).

Same here. The Sierra Voice Setup has some serious problems. I use speech recognition no problems, I record stuff no problem, I plug my guitar into my LiveDrive and record it no problem- no hum, no buzz, good sample rate. But the SVS sounds like crap or worse. I speak into it, what comes out is

What is it in player setup that really effects this? You can adjust volume, and that's it. I hear players that are surprisingly clear - impressively clear, in fact. But those are rare. Many sound distored and badly broken up - is that a setup issue? It doesn't sound like their volume is too high

well iv had a look and no.. the other hacks work by rapping a client dll round the current one this is detrected.. the hack that works switches between opengl.dll once the game has started so it uses propper one until later on when nothings checking for consistency.. Dan (or so i beleive..)

yes it sounds great and send great too... also, if you have an SB Live Platinum with the Live Drive and plug your microphone into the front, DON'T go through the voice setup util. it'll force Mic 1 to be the input device (and you want Mic 2, the front panel one). took a while to realize that.
