Has anyone undertaken an effort to provide a site with all the HLTV FAQ's,
a forum for HLTV discussion, and a repository for utilities and
custom map overview files?
I proclaim myself as HLTV's biggest fan here and now!
If nothing else, an FTP site for the overview files would be a great asset
They do that because Quake III is a good
all-around benchmark for video cards.
It can really tax a card with some of
those levels.
HL is just the Quake 1 engine on speed, so
it can run on just about anything these days.
Even my old Riva TNT could run it great!

That's not really the case. The card/driver combination makes or breaks a
3D solution. For instance, under w9x, using dual voodoo2's, HL/CS would

The Counter-Strike models use 9 way blending (parametric animation), which
means that there are a bunch of different animations per model that get
blended together to give you more fluid movement.
If you compare this to the standard HLDM models, for instance, you can
imagine how much more math

the other hacks work by rapping a client dll round the current one this is
detrected.. the hack that works switches between opengl.dll once the game
has started so it uses propper one until later on when nothings checking for
consistency..

everyone in the server (even opposite teams can talk to each other) or will
follow the rules for voice set in the game .dll file.

I too have a Sb Live! Value card (from '98). I can't use the voice_tweak.exe
program at all (I am in W2k, and it seems to be a known issue, so I will
leave it at that). Funny thing is though, on one server I frequent, my voice
comes through just fine according to the people I play with, on

Platinum with the Live Drive and plug your microphone into the front, DON'T
go through the voice setup util. it'll force Mic 1 to be the input device
(and you want Mic 2, the front panel one). took a while to realize that.
Whenever my server changes maps it says you hl has
been modified since its starting engine and it gives me a name of a file, and it
says blank has been modified, why is this, and is there any way to disable
this?

doing the voice setup in the game portion sounded strange so I tested it
with just the windows and it was ok. It sounds strange on some guys
machines I think it is the mic they are using the cheaper ones do not like
the 20DB gain set.
