We're planning on a required Team Fortress 2 update later today. No
specific details yet, but I'll send notice when it goes live.

Something kindly explaining that might be useful instead
of displaying some random page and making people think
its broken.
That before the WTF in this day and age are they restricting
content by region for, its not like they need to translate
it or anything, it will be the same version.
Good thing this was HLDS related...otherwise, it might be considered spam.

The required Team Fortress 2 update is now released. Please run
hldsupdatetool to receive this update. The specific changes include:
- Added Custom Tab explanation dialog to be shown the first time the
server browser is opened
- Changed Medigun Ubercharge meter to drain faster for each target
No custom tab removal? :(

I don't suppose anyone else is having all their players get disconnected
on map change right? On this patch restart I had tv_enable added to the
command line along with the update and now on every map change everyone
gets disconnected.

I guess they still want to keep shoving it down our throats whether we
like it or not...

Great! A dialog that will be closed before it finishes drawing the text, and
then never opened again.
The average gamer looking for a server will close that dialog without
reading it. I suggest valve
I have hosted a server for over 4 years now and I only do it for my own
entertainment and sorry Valve, but the best part of running(and playing on)
a server is all the cool mods these kids out there like Mani, Mattie, the
sourcemod folks and now more than ever Beetlefart and of course others have
I'd be happy just to see my server, lol. After update it disappeared (24 slot
server). In the tf2 browser I see about 50 servers and 5 custom. I don't have a
problem with inet/cust, my problems always been battling to see my servers on
the list (hlds/srcds and now orangebox) and the myriad of
I am currently running a VANILLA 24 player TF2 server which has the
following VANILLA ?con?figurations:
Demomen shoot Babies/Explosive Barrels (Instead of Pipe Bombs/Sticky Bombs)
Sentry Gun/Soldier rockets are Watermelons... Crit Watermelons FTW. I am not
using any plugin to bypass Valve's

haha it seems, that a ot of players don't understand the system?! what about
removing that useless tab and making a dialog on one(!) list how to use
filters and how to understand the server tags?
There seems to be this trend in PC gaming where developers want to
control the game experience in online play more and more. The most
extreme case would be DICE and the ranked servers for BF2 and 2142.
More and more the options we as admins have to host a game the way we
want to play it are
Tell me about it, but I have to admit, steam blows what activision does for
online play of COD4 out of the water. Have you ever tried to use their
server browser? What a piece of crap.

It would be great if users could make, say, a steam friends client for
linux, or a steam friends plugin for something like Pidgin. I know
many people only through having played with them on steam. I would
love to be able to talk to them/see what they're up to when i'm not in
windows or at work.
Speaking of steam community api it would be nice for the server to have this
kind of API available. As well as an API to interact with our steam group.
For example, if I ban someone from my server, I'd like to check if they are
in my steam group, and if they are, boot them automagically.
As well
This is a nice idea and receives my seal of approval.
