Hi there!
I have a problem with my public HLDS Linux server.
Until the server reaches 15 players, the ping is fine (~20 ms).
But if there are 15 or more players on my server, the ping goes up to
~100 ms.
The internet connection is a good one, linux kernel is 2.6.9,
Pentium 4 1,7ghz, 512Mb
what is your upstream? 15 players need ~600k of upsteam. 1.7g should be
able to ran 32ppl.

Alfred said something about it not so long ago. I think it was along the lines
of we are completing cs:s and dod:s then if time permits and there is incentive
to do so they would look at tfc:s. I have a rubbish memory so it may have been
'we are not making tfc:s ever'.

Sure it was public on warez sites or whatever but why spread it ? You actively
have to search for those things, people don't need it delivering to their

Once you know it exists it's pretty easy to find flawless instructions
to implement it, though I'm positive VALVe is trying to correct the
issues, it's just a complex task. Believe it or not, there are some
flaws in systems that are extremely difficult to fix, whether it's a
flaw in Windows or

Try updating to AMXX version 1.0 with new binaries. I tried 0.20 a while ago
and it was
definitley to laggy with more than 16 players on the server.
Other helpful commands to lower bandwith on clientside:
sv_maxrate 7500
sv_maxupdaterate 35
Just try.

Hi all!
Lately I have seen post all over the Internet, even in this list, that
suggest to set rate/sv_maxrate to 25000.
I believe that the max. value of those cvars are 2, have this changed
since 1.5?
Anyway, I can't find any reliable info on

Not any default version of AMX I have ever run. And I have run pretty
much all of them. Now, installing 300 some odd plugins or misconfiguring
it then sure.

Last I heard (sometime over a year ago), Erik had mentioned that CS 2 and TF

party MOD team will create a TF style MOD within the first 6 months after
the final SDK is released. As history has shown, it'll probably pwn

This is not true for counterstrike or Czero. It is totally dependant on
a lot of factors. Maybe true at standard rates but players change these
as soon as they find out how 2.
It is possible to pull 11kb/sec through per client at full rates on a
good server.
Server setup can effect this also,
I agree - i run Gentoo on one box and CentOS on the others and both have
2.6.x kernel. Outperforms 2.4 mostly on HT and Dual CPU boxes (mp and xeon).
It has alot of other things going for it like the hz= is set to 1000 vs 100
for the 2.4 kernels.
