In your gameinfo.txt change Game hl2 to Game |
all_source_engine_paths|hl2 and make a new file called steam.inf with
appid=218 inside (or the appid you base your mod off).
Now you should be able to start your mod dedicated server.

It would be better just to store the last part of the steam id (for
example STEAM_X:A:BCDEFG you would store A:BCDEFG) and update the needed
software. That way it doesnt matter what game the player is playing,
they will be unique.

random server you will never join).

Try using this for now: http://lodle.net/archives/7 if he/she is on a cafe
account you should be able to ban the range of ids.
