I have noticed a somewhat similar trend on my servers. But I have regulars
and admins that connect day in and day out. I find that before, my servers
were always full for months at a time with no break in player numbers
unless an update was released.

How are you able to tell you're being attacked? I have a feeling my servers
are being attacked as well, but I'm not sure how to be sure.

This was happening on my servers even before yesterdays update. Almost 85%
of clients would disconnect as a result of a timeout. They rejoin the
server right after the crash, saying that hl2.exe has stopped working.

I didn't see the notification either. I had to manually shut down and
restart one of my servers (with -autoupdate, of course) for it to update. A
map change did not automatically update the server to the latest version.
