results in a not working installation ( * Unable to load Steam support

Did you use SteamCMD on the server?
I had the problem on a Windows server, to fix it I installed normal
steam install and it worked. No idea on linux. But if you also used
steamcmd once on that server that is likely the problem.

I just added a steam_appid.txt containing 440 and now everything works

Was just reporting what to me looks like a bug as currently that file
is missing and not everybody is aware that such file is required in
order to have a server that works in non-lan mode ;)

Yeah, I wasn't aware that file was needed until reading the recent archives
here. Was driving me up the wall not having the server start properly.

Had the same issue. Creating orangebox/steam_appid.txt did the trick
for me as well.
