When beta was restarted while back (as in, put back into play), there
was a note that any of the items may disappear at any time. So those
items are void and you cannot bring something valuable from beta to main
game.

I understand why they're doing it and for the most part is for the better.
Doesn't mean I have to like it. I don't know how many times I've seen
people ask where their items were from regular TF2 or wish they had their
regular items.
Fletcher's claim that time you spent in TF2 Beta counts
I don't know of many betas where you can keep the items you earn. This
could be negated by removing drops entirely from beta, and giving
everyone access to one of every weapon and a handful of hats, but I
imagine they want to mirror production as close as possible. The reward
is knowing how
It's it's a beta. It's not some second TF2 in which you can gain
TWICE THE NUMBER OF HATS :
It's to root out problems and bugs, and playtest with new ideas. I can't
believe that someone would actually need some incentive to help beta
test. If you don't want to beta test, then don't run
One note concerning the TF2 beta. As you probably know, it's currently a
separate app. (The TF2 beta client is App ID 520 and the TF2 beta dedicated
server is AppID 229830.) About a week before the TF2 switchover, we'll
initiate a beta process identical to the one used for the other games.
Thanks Fletch!

Is it possible to get a more exact date on when the TF2 beta will be
decommissioned and an optional TF2 client beta is released? I'd prefer for
it to be much sooner than later, but in any case an exact date would help
me know when to block off time to migrate and test.

Thanks for Info.
Maybe you can tell us, when L4D2 and CSGO (clientside) is ported to Linux?

I'm pretty sure L4D(2) are already on SteamPipe.
They're not.
However, they *do* use VPK instead of GCF files.
Oh well, at least there
