How can one have a full sound or characteristic sound on a high F or high E-flat-side
? This is contradictory. The only way to keep a full(er) sound might be, to stay on
the Bb-side of your Pax 44 as much as possible use the high F side for high
entrances only but returning to the Bb-side as

Timbre sound quality are not the same. That´s like clothes: look feel are very
different. Even if they look the same, they feel completely different e.g. real silk
synthetic silk.
The inner quality is important not the camouflage.

Can anyone help or suggest ideas?
The third valve on the Bb side of my Lidl Triple needs to be pulled out so far as to
not be practicable. What Is causing this valve to be so sharp?

I would recommend a Holton 378 or 179 or a Conn 6D.
I wouldn't recommend buying a Conn 8D (or Holton 188) if the horn is going to
stay in the high school and be played by intermediate players. The large
throat on the 8D is difficult for intermediate level players to fill up or
control.

What are the popular models these days? Should he go ahead and invest in
Conn 8D's, etc., or scale back a little? Is there much of a price
difference between the professional mass produced horns and the
student models? Is it worth saving a few hundred dollars for something
less?

It doesn't sound like many of you have had problems with intonation with the
Yamaha horns.
I have several High School students on Yamahas and I have had nothing but
trouble with the intonation with those horns. They're terrible. I suppose
it's possible that my 6 students on Yamahas happened to
