Andrew, some good information on those links The basic conclusion is that 6 - 10 lines per mm is the absolute maximum visible to a good naked eye at a range of 25 cm (10 inches). Converting to inches we get a maximum dpi of 250 with a more realistic value of 200. (If you want to allow
