To me, it sounds like this dataset is orphaned in the wrong usercat. You need
to temporary delete the alias to the correct usercat; delete the cluster with
the catalog parameter (or define the alias to the wrong usercat before the
delete); finally define the alias back to the correct usercat.

don't you email me directly and I can give you my direct phone number. I

bottom of this by using LISTCAT, perhaps some VTOC lists, some prints of

If you use the CATALOG(xxx) parameter, you don't need to delete or
redefine the alias.

We really appreciate you taking the time to enlighten us.
Could you comment on the observation that ICC consoles can be expected
to be offline in various start up scenarios?
For example, z/os 1.7 POR, z/os 1.9 POR, 'Rolling IPL' for those two?
Thanks!!

Be sure you understand the installation's security rules. I can't
believe that there wouldn't be naming conventions in place that would
allow datasets to be named so as to get appropriate access protection
even for test/training/non-production datasets. If you are somehow

Just finished a roll out of a new IODF/IOCDS across all five of my

The list of IOCDS's look good, but the 'current active' does not agree

I wouldn't expect them to match if dynamic activity has take place since the
last POR. I believe the IOCDS is write protected for the life of the POR.
What happened when you built the new IOCDS (i.e., wrote it out to the SE)?

I'm looking for previous relase of System z Connectivity Handbook
SG24-5444. Now it's SG24-5444-08 and does not include any information
regarding z/900. Redbook web page does show me only the latest issue.
How can I find old release of the book?

What I have to say is if the VSAM is definitely uncataloged then the following

Although not about IBM mainframes, I think this article is interesting. It

Ram,
I was also in the Outsourcing business for 10 years so here comes my opinion :
a) You have to speak/find the Software support staff for the Computer that
you are working on
b) Tell them what you want to do and then ask them, what do they think you
should do.
They would help you, if only
First you need to check all the components. The LISTCAT is listing the BCS.
You should list the VVDS of the volume where the DATA and INDEX
components are located. Check if the entries are there and if they point to
the right catalog. Also, using 3.4 and specifying the VOLSER, see if the
