My current client has a V2X2 and is thinking about replacing it with a
Shark. SnapShot is used to snap 600 volumes in about 5-10 minutes.
The physical tape backups are done from the snaps and take about 8
hours. This DR process is fully tested and works great. My main
concern if we replace
the 1.8 manual has been updated to say

set in VOL1 or VOL2 has no problem. Also, access to two or more data
sets that reside in VOL1 in a concatenation has no problem.
I will agree that the GTF documentation is less than clear.
MODE=EXT is the most common way to run GTF. In this mode, GTF writes all
trace data to the output trace dataset immediately. Once you stop the
trace, you can format the trace data with IPCS. But one warning: if you
are outputting to a
ISTR that R14 in a jobstep programme points
directly at an SVC 3 instruction. You used to be able to tell if you were
the jobstep programme by looking at that.
An ATTACHed subtask also gets an R14 that points to the SVC 3 (EXIT) in
the CVT, so your test for jobstep task was never valid.

Carol, why aren't you calling us first on questions like
FDRPAS issues a warning message if you swap from a duplexed volume to a
non-duplexed volume, but it lets the swap continue. It currently only
tests for PPRC but we plan to add a test for XRC.
But it must be the responsibility of the customer to decide what to do
about the situation.

I, personally, believe the answer is number 2. IBM likely wants to kill

Unlikely, I think. I can testify that IBM puts in a lot of effort
taking care of their largest customers, who are on z/OS with large DASD
farms. That is why they invented the 3390-27, 3390-54, and alternate

Seriously - there is nothing wrong with a vendor having undocumented
features or parameters etc. as long as they don't intend for customers
to use them on a regular basis or without the direction of their
support. I don't know where this example fits in.

APAR OA04022, from 2004, added 4 members in SAMPLIB showing how to do
various functions (flashcopy, pprc, etc) using ANTTREXX.
So I don't think it is going away
