Dear Mat, Dears
thanks for answers
The file selection dialog sorts alphabetically.
There is no quick-n-easy way to resort the data groups once in
Athena. The best solution would be to name the files in a way
that alphabetical sorting will be the same as time sorting.
The way to do that
Dear Bruce,

Dear Dave,
that's good idea - but then you have to ask every beamline owner to
change the file names, at each synchrotron... and it will not help if
you want to sort groups later ;)
the another problem is with the length of files, can you imagine the
file name such as
Dear Pei
of course if you know what you are looking for... Athena is very suitable for
absorption fluorescence and TEY...
one trick - you can think about self absorption...

Hi all,
I want only to add something to your discussion
first - are we talking about edge step in the linear or logarithmic
scale - ln(3)=~1, so jump ~3 can be ok - if it is in linear scale
second - for higher absorption you can expect the self-absorption
effect, which also decreases the

I do not clearly understood what you mean. could you explain it more precisely?
do you want to replace the x scale from energy to time?
if you want only set the edge energy use E0

Hi Pushan,
can you tell more about the experiment and the way of data collecting?
how did you measure your samples? which method did you use? what kind of
samples do you have?
the answer of your question is not stricted, but generaly I would say
that the noise level should be independent of the

Hi
if you are using origin I suggest to use import wizard at new worksheet,
if you are using excel simple open the file by excel (in open file
window at the bottom select all files *.* in the line Files of type)
and follow the importing procedure, step by step.
good luck

I am afraid that E0 jumps over the edge - see bmp's

Hi all,
I had followed your advices and I can shortly summarised what I've got.
I fitted with and without background with feff 6 and feff 8.4. For feff
8.4 I did also with SCF=4.0
I fitted only first two peaks (R(1.7-4A) k(3-15A^(-1)))
for feff 6 and feff 8.4 I had the same values of E0 for N

I have opened your file and I see that everything is ok
Fe:K edge, reference at 7112 eV and your samples s11 at 7122.8 s32 at
7127 as a maxi of 1st derivative (for s32 is the highest maximum, but I
would take 7121.97 as E0)
it seams that Fe in your samples is not metallic one...

Dear Todd, Dears Alls,
in my lab (Hasylab) many EXAFS users use the glovebox to prepare air

Hi all,
there is one point of discussion missing for me - does the signal from
transmision and fluorescence is the same?
The fluorescence signal is more sensitive to the surface in some
situations, thus if you expect some changes (e.g. oxidation) of the
surface of your sample you should be more
