Hi Avi Firstly, thanks a bunch for your reply. But I am sorry man, I have already done a reinstall. You may imagine hanging on a shell that does nothing good, for 2 days. Anyways, thanks for the suggestion. If unfortunately the situation arises again, I'll surely give your suggestion a shot.

Hi everybody. My filesystem got corrupted hda9 is my root partition. fsck.ext2 -p doesn't help as it says that partition is clean. I want to run following command: e2fsck -b alternate superblocknumber /dev/hda9 To know the alternate block number I ran following command: mke2fs -n

[ilugd] File system got corrupted. Please help.
