Hi vivek,
If you have the disk with you goto the linux rescue environment and
try mount
-n -o remount,rw / . This will remount your system in read write mode. And
you can fix the broken system using the command sudo dpkg --configure -a
and sudo update-grub. This is problem is with mostly with
