hi all,

a few days ago had posted a suggestion on why the government should tax
commerical non-free software and further fund free software initiatives in
india. posted it to linux-india and linux-delhi.

controversial?
richard stallman made some interesting observations. check it out here:

have decided will draft an open letter + signature campaign to the govt.,
email it to the finance minister's email id and a few others in the relevant
govt departments. would post the letter first on ilug-d and also to
linux-india. those who agree may sign or give permission to have their names
put to the email, and at the end of 5 days, will email it to the government.

what about those who disagree?

they can draft their own email, start their own signature campaign, and also
post/email it similarly.

please stand by for the open letter draft. make your comments and suggest
changes. once the draft is finalized, we can then ask those interested to
sign or contribute their names.

:-)
