I have seen similar ones tested in SMTP AUTH LOGIN sessions.
I reported this to local CERT in last september.

explicitely. (Running there sendmail -t is one of the more lethal
mistakes that people seem to do...)
Possibly run that Bayesian filter of yours as fetchmail mda.

You might even consider local not only loopback, but any connection
where getpeername() and getsockname() returned addresses are
same (port-numbers will vary, of course.)
