Hi,
I am using Solaris and imap. my requirement is, how do we change the
deamon.notice messages for op3d and imapd from /var/adm/messages to
/var/log/imapoplog?
i would like to separate only imapd and ipop3d notice messages to
/var/log/imapoplog.
To be specific, in my syslog.conf
deamon.notice /var/adm/messages
This will send a the deamon messages including ftpd,telnetd,imapd.pop3d to
/var/adm/messages.
My requirement is to send only imapd and pop3d messages /var/log/imapoplog
please let me know if you a suggestion.

You are correct that UW imapd generates those responses, and has done so
for quite some time before RFC 3501 came out. I have yet to hear of a
single client which misbehaves because of this.
