For more information, please visit www.iri-thesys.org. The successful candidate will be a member of the IRI THESys Research Group Global challenges in economic and environmental ethics. The research group investigates problems arising from economic and environmental change using the methods of contemporary political philosophy and normative ethics. It has three objectives. First, to address hitherto neglected questions of global economic justice, including questions of justice in finance and monetary governance. Second, to examine central challenges that arise in environmental ethics, including the question of how to balance effectiveness and justice in dealing with climate change. Third, to systematically investigate foundational and applied issues at the intersection of economic and environmental change, including the normative assessment of various policy instruments and response strategies under conditions of non-compliance, uncertainty, and ‘fragmented agency’. The successful applicant should work in political philosophy or ethics, pursue research on questions of economic or environmental justice, and contribute to the research objectives outlined above. He or she will be an active member of both IRI THEsys and the Department of Philosophy and support all activities and events of the research group, including grant applications, conferences and workshops. There will be the possibility to teach. We seek a candidate with a doctoral degree in Philosophy or Political Theory. Experience in teaching and a relevant inter-disciplinary background are assets. Excellent command of the English language, good communication skills, and willingness to work in an international research team are mandatory. We offer a position in an international and interdisciplinary team. Payment will be according to EG 13 TV-L HU (100% position).
