blocks from my house in Tennessee. The new rocket 980 does a very good job
at getting out with only 131 watts!

I'm hearing what sounds like morse code on 1220 khz. The noise floor and signal
are pretty close and I haven't been able to decipher it as of yet. The tone is
around 1khz and is consistant with no lengthy breaks. Direction is primarily

TPs were very poor when I got up at 1230 UT with carriers on 594, 693, 747,
774 972 and 1566 and no audio. That changed around 1255 when the band started
to come alive with many more carriers and 4 with audio.

This is very interesting as about 2 years ago I heard Morse Code on 1220 for 2
days and I never did find out who or what it was. It was also just above the
noise level and the speed was very slow. From here the direction was N/S.
Could this be one of the same?

Checking out TOH on 1660 last night just in case WWRU was off. Heard
multiple ID's - WWRU of course, and also WFNA-NC. Also had Sports
Radio 1410 and 1660 AM. There's nothing shown as sports format on 1410
anywhere near either WFNA or WQSN-MI nor KRZI-TX.

I remember the list and think it's a good idea. One suggestion would be to
list our e-mail addresses in some slightly-altered format, for example:

You never know when someone is going to post the list on some unsecured web

Sounds to me that you're hearing a lw beacon, either a close enough one
that may be strong enough to produce some audible mixing products or
that it has gone out of tune and is producing higher levels of harmonics
that it should. Divide 1220 by 3,4,5 or 6 and check that frequency for
matching
Back in the 60s/early 70s, I use to get some mixing product in the area
between the local Astoria stations and some local beacon on MW. I used
to get Morse code on the car radio driving to work at KVAS, in the early
70s as I remember around 1090 khz. I never did fiqure it out.

Yes, I got a QSL from KISD and KWBD both. I remember KSWB leaving their
old 1 KW rig on 24/7 when a daytimer on 930, but only the exiter, as the
carrier signal was quite weak at night. You would only hear it a few
miles from the tx. KSWB tx is surrounded by water in a swampy area in

For example, when I searched Albany OR I found the Lewisburg NDB
transmitting LWG (.-.. .-- --.) on 225 kHz. It is located 9.1 miles NE
of Albany airport.

don't know if all receivers get RF gain by touching an
antenna terminal but it does work if there is a loop
or wire attached to a tuner,as I found out as a liitle
kid at age 6 when my mother

Decided to enjoy a few minutes of music and monitor
KWDB into sign off after the 9PM news and listened for
any noises but heard only a carrier until 9:20 when
the hiss was activated,and is still going at this time
close to 20:00 PDT.The noise is audible next door on
1100 and 1120 creating a wider
