A word caution:
The CW some of you are saying you are hearing might not be from CFFX. I
could be from Cuba. Radio Reloj (or Radio Rebelde, it's one of them) plays a
RR at the top of each minute.
If you cannot copy CW, even at a slow 5 wpm, you might be fooled into think
you have heard CFFX.
2 AM-2:10 EST KMA-960-IA, WSBT-IN maybe CFAC provided the QRM. Fortunately my
locals on 950 980 aren't very strong this fit nicely in their nulls. 73,

After successfully hearing CFFX's first DX Test programming spot at
EST, I called it a night, foregoing the final two. However, I set the alarm to
try to hear a final sign-off announcement from the station, scheduled to go
off air for good at 0600 EST. I was at the radio by 0552, but

About a minute and a half after the top-of-the-hour, at both midnight and
1am EST, I heard the morse code breaking through dominant WFIR and Reloj
followed by short sweep tones. Haven't decoded the code yet but it was very
distinct. Some pop music was heard following the code but I don't know if
FYI: Through WELI (next door) null, CFFX slightly off 180 degrees angle on
other end; was able to record cw and sweeps at the 0200-EST leg of test. Will
check again before the 0600 sign/off.

CFFX-960 heard weakly with Morse code IDs and sweep tones from about
0001:30 to 0003 EST using both of my unmodified Sony SRF-M37V and

Roadtown, Tortola, British Virgin Islands. 780 WBBM Chicago is in perfect
null position with your 59 to hear ZBVI. ZBVI also operates at 10kW D/N.

In listening back to the cassette, I found several spots where I
detected morse code, but one was better than the others that seemed to
spell out the CFFX calls. I am sending off a CD to Saul today in hopes
he can make it out. I just wish the AK would not have been so elevated.

1620 (heard Atmore AL years ago) but get USVI often; WKAQ and others also

KIGO 1420 in with a whooper of a signal. Listed as 12 watts at night.
I read on-line that a gentleman from Norway heard them last
May. I guess the elevation of 4,972' really helps the 12 watts.
Luckily with the SRF-59 a couple other stations can be heard.

Less than 24 hours since the demise of CFFX (a semi-local, 88 miles
away), and I've already logged two new ones on 960, WKVX in OH and
WPRT in KY, plus a tentative WTGM in MD (does anyone else run Fox

KGDP 660 heard with recorded ID loop at 1555 PST 01/15, repeated every
15 seconds. This is radio station KGDP, six hundred sixty kiloHertz,
Oildale, California. Mixing with KTNN. I checked again at 1620 PST and
they had their usual religion programming.

Could hear singing good enough to tell it was a man singing, a style of singing
I don't associate with English but probably Spanish (don't know music type
name), a word sung ending in a long o sound. Using the R-75, 2.1 kHz USB
experimenting with the twin passbands.
