Listened from 1455-1540 utc. No Russian long waves heard this morning. Best
signal of the morning goes to HLAZ 1566. Upper channels much better than the
lower channels.

While tuning to 1650 kHz this morning after TP listening, I heard two TIS

AM PST. At 7:55 AM PST assuming WQHF574 with information for the

This morning was the first morning for excellent TP conditions from

other mornings have been rather poor. There has been no TA activity
whatsoever. This morning however was fabulous towards especially Japan.

I continue to be stumped by what’s become a repeated, three-time unID on 1240.
Each time, it sounds like WJNA or WJMH, or something akin to that. The closts
calls I can find are WJMC in Rice Lake WI, a location which makes sense for
this time. But the last letter really does not – to me at
Saul,
WJLX would have to be on the air. Well, we assume it is.. but I know in the
past, the AM transmitter has been off while the translator at 101.5 remains
on the air.
Its not WJLX as they ID as Oldies 101.5, rarely ever mentioning the actual
call letters.

Saul, I'm with you. It's sure sounding like WJNA, WJMA, or (least likely)
WJMH. I'm listening to these three clips over and over and over, and I'm not
hearing anything that sounds like WJMC or WJIM.
On clip #1, I'm hearing the calls, followed by something that sounds like
CAAT (?). Then
Drop some EQ to get the fuzz off the audio, slow it down about 20%, WJIM
jumps out of both clips from 12/16.

Thank you, to the many of you, who listened and have pointed me to WJIM in

have come down in price. Are the LED ones noise free? Anyone
I like the LED. Definitely noise free. The one is on a stairwell that is

Good point. DXers please post your observations on noise levels of these new

Hello
We hope you've had a good Christmas and have enjoyed some time with
family and friends, and even vacations in places touched by summer.
This past week, we opened up a large box of estate radio memorabilia

All of today's TP action happened above 1550 kHz, wit HLAZ-1566 and
CNR-1593 producing unusually good signals. There were a few carriers
elsewhere on the dial - some of them on intriguing channels like 1098

Good luck with the SDR, Michael. As you know, Perseus is the present

there are things that don't make sense on opening the package. But

I have a few observations. Firstly, they are not entirely noise free as the
circuit in the base can sometimes emit noise. However the noise is far far
less than from a CFL. I could live with LED bulbs near the listening post.
The noise dissipates just inches from the bulb.

I apologize for saying I was sure it was WJMC. I didn't mention it, but it
seemed there was a tiny fraction of a second delay between WJM the C, now
notice very indistinct short noise (letter??) that I was sure was a C. What's
before sounds like WJNE on that one WJNE on the 2 others as well.

Broadcasting doesn't own anything on 1240khz.
