Subject: FOR SISTER NAJLA: "Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him is our return." (Surah Baqarah 2:156)

bismillaah.gif

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatuallahi wa Barakatuhu.

I don't know if any of you know Sister Najla from the "Islam-Is-Peace" e-group...I have known her "virtually" for quite some time.  It was just a few months back that we chatted on Yahoo messenger and she had her web-cam on and I got to see her bright, smiling, happy, beautiful, face.

Sister Najla was always someone I could refer to when I was unsure about something with regard to Islam...she was a virtual fountain of information, good cheer, and full of love and compassion for others...and her Creator.

She was always prompt about replying to me...and recently I wrote her again when an issue arose that I wanted her counsel on.  A few days had passed and it had crossed my mind to write her again...but I just assumed that maybe, she, not unlike myself, might have just been a little busier than usual.

Sister Najla had shared with me the story of her migration from Morocco to Canada; and her goal to, insha'Allah, bring other members of her family to her newfound home.  She seemed so happy and at peace the last time I saw her smiling through to me via the webcam...

And then, just the other day...I received a very brief, basically non descript message from her brother that to this very moment, the effects of reading its content continue to ripple through my heart...

Najla's brother's message was simply this:

Assalam alaikum

Brothers and sisters, Sister Najla is no more.

"Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him is our return."
(Surah Baqarah 2:156)

Idriss (sister Najla's brother)

(don't reply to this message please)

Wow...I couldn't believe my eyes...

I've pleaded with Br. Idriss for more of an explanation...to which I haven't received a reply...but, insha'Allah, he will write again.

I don't know what happened to bring about Sister Najela's passing...it strikes me as something that seems to have happened abtuptly and unexpectedly...(of course, none of us knows when our last moment will be)...because the last post she made was only April 24th, but I pray we will meet again, she and I, in Jannah, insha'Allah.

I looked up a little something on death that leaves me with a wonderful reassurance insofar as Sister Najela is concerned.  I'll share it with you here:
While the life span of a Muslim is short, and deeds and actions stop after death, a Muslim may continue to earn rewards for certain things even after his death.

Good deeds, such as perpetual charity, are the ones that follow him a Muslim (Get the rewards), even while the person is in the grave, such deeds like: useful knowledge, a good child that prays for him, a Mosque that he built, teaching Quran to another person, a house he built for public use, a water fountain or a river that he rented and made it free for people, or a charity that he gave during his life while he was in good health; all are rewardable even after death.

In this respect the Prophet (P.B.U.H) said : "After the death of a person his actions stop, except three things that he leaves behind: First continuous charity, Second a knowledge from which some benefit may be obtained, Third a virtuous son who makes Dua’ (Pray, supplicate) on his behalf." (Muslim)

The items made "bold" in color are merely what I know of from personal experience with Sister Najela; and it is from this that I derive comfort from the heartfelt pain that struck my heart on hearing of her passing from this dunya.

My dear Sister Najela...'til we meet again...insha'Allah.

Love and hugs.

Ma'Salaama,

~Your Sister, Aishah.

There is no objection to quiet weeping as Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) did when his son died and said: "It is a mercy that Allah made in the hearts of his servants." (Bukhari)

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}
(Holy Quran-16:125)

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)  also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
