I still don't see what is your problem. You can add Chunks to a Phrase and
each Chunk can have a different font, size and color.

Adobe should be able to recognize its own kind as it does correctly with
grayscale and RGB jpg. It's impossible to fix something that even the full
Acrobat doesn't recognize as a valid file.

Maybe Matthew has a problem with the way fonts are propagated.
