Hi Alan,
I think that after you put the .dic files where they are supposed to go,
you then run the .exe files to install the actual dictionary programs in
their appropriate places and to make the dictionaries functional. That is
my guess anyway and I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will jump
Mike, you are right. That's what I did. The .exe files are medical
dictionaries.
So, put the .dics where they belong and run the .EXE files. Then again, you
don't have to run the .EXE files, either.
Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you

Hi Al,
One of the .EXE files is a free medical spell checker. It is installed like
other programs and adds an icon to the desktop as well as creates a program
group in the all programs section of the start menu. The desktop shortcut
is called free medical spell checker. A person can open the
I realize that there are some very interesting new features in Jaws 11 but
setting them aside, are there any other notable differences in the way these 2
programs handle day to day operations?
Before I install Jaws 11, I'd like to know more about it. I have found Jaws
10 to be quite effective
I had not any issues with jaws 11 at this time. the research function comes
in handy. The only issue I have is with setting specific voice to a program.
the same voice is use do not how to change this. Works well with EI 8, MS
Word 7 and outlook express so far. Hope this help.

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a home page displaying the daily news that is very Jaws
friendly.
I would appreciate any ideas you might have.
Thanks,

Any number of news sources are very JAWS friendly. Your choice will depend
on where you live and your interests.
For example, www.boston.com, the Boston Globe will send you a daily
update; however, it is very much oriented to Boston.
At any time during the day you can go to such sources as
Hi John,
Why not have both versions on your machine and this way you can make your
own comparisons based on your computer useage wants needs. I have been
running both versions for awhile now and find myself switching back forth.
I really like the Research It features in Jaws 11, but just
Thank you Russel. I will give this a try.

Would it be possible to set up my computer with Jaws 11 and have it activated
by the Hot key of Control Alt J, and yet be able to bring up Jaws 10 by Shift
Control Alt J?
Many thanks! Vicky

You can have both versions of JAWS installed but only one
running at a time. So, what you say below could possibly
work but you would have to exit the one version of JAWS
prior to launching the other with what ever hotkey you
choose

Hi Gerald,
I don't know if this keystroke is some kind of freak of computer nature, but
on both my computers the keystroke control, shift, alt, + P opens my PDF to
Text program. I haven't experimented with any other 4 key combinations.
The particular keystroke mentioned above is the default
You can only assign a 3 key combination to a hot key. So for JAWS 11, you
could assign Alt-Control-J, and for JAWS 10 you could assign
Shift-Control-J. But you cannot assign a 4 key combination to a hot key,
so you cannot use Shift-Alt-Control-J.

Yes, you could do it that way. You may want to consider using a number
along with the alt control combination though. I have Jaws version assigned
to alt control 9, version 10 to 0 and so forth.

I stand corrected. You're absolutly right. I just tried assigning a 4-key
hot key to one of my programs, and it worked.
